With the title Il Cinema put to the wall , the small fraction of the municipality of Orta San Giulio has been part of the national circuit of I Paesi Dipinti for years now, which groups together in the homonymous association based at the Apt del Varesotto, in addition to 90 Italian places with walls frescoed by artists of national fame or by unknown painters who have followed the courses of fresco technique.

The small hamlet of Legro is the destination of numerous visitors every summer, including many foreigners, who travel along "La via del cinema" admiring 45 works whose common denominator is the inspiration for famous films that were shot on Lake Orta. The theme chosen has led Legro and Lake Orta to numerous newspapers, television and radio broadcasters.

The tour starts from the Santa Caterina area, on the Hotel Wall of the same name; then climb up to the railway bridge and turn right until you reach the square in front of the train station. From here you enter the streets of Legro: turning around, on the walls of the houses, it is not difficult to see all the wall paintings.

Among the works present, we will mention only a few examples:

The desire to win made by Chiara Beltrami and inspired by the film starring Gianni Morandi, Catherine Spaak and Milly Carlucci

Bitter Rice made by Salvo Caramagno and inspired by the film starring Silvana Mangano and Vittorio Gassman
