Hiking

THIRD STAGE

from Campione del Garda to Gargnano

20191207_130703_s_1

This fascinating stage of the Great Tour of Garda, extremely varied from a landscape point of view, starts in Campione del Garda and ends in Gargnano.

The route starts immediately uphill, overcoming the approximately 700 m difference in altitude necessary to reach Monte Cas, and offering great panoramic views of the northern Lake Garda and its surroundings.

Then it continues mainly downhill, with wide views of southern Lake Garda, initially reaching the Sanctuary of Montecastello, and later on the hamlets of Tignale, Aer, Piovere and Muslone, before reaching the conclusion.

In this long journey through villages, woods and olive groves, you will encounter some extremely suggestive places, such as the aforementioned sanctuary, and the waterfalls of the Bornico Valley.

Path

You cross the bridge over the San Michele stream to the south, and take path 267:

20191207_113815_s

including a short illuminated tunnel,

and a canal:

Immediately after the canal, at the crossroads, you turn left, taking path 266:

quickly gaining altitude,

and an an altitude of 450 m the slope becomes more modest:

From the lakefront,

the view of Monte Baldo is fascinating:

Variant through Prabione

It is possible to save about 250 m in altitude by avoiding Monte Cas and the Sanctuary of Montecastello, and instead passing through the town of Prabione. See the track in green color on the map.

You take this variant, decidedly less attractive from a panoramic point of view, going straight at the crossroads immediately preceding the adventure park,

going along Via Pascoli, towards the town,

20200228_090147_s

until you reach the center, where you turn left, south, in Via Bezzecca, which continues in Via Anita Garibaldi:

20200228_091115_s

This, in turn, flows into Via Leonardo da Vinci, equipped with a sidewalk,

20200228_093811_s

or cycle-pedestrian track:

Finally, you join Via Ebranati, on the original route:
